Located in Cork Harbour, Fota Island opened for play in 1993 and along with the likes of Adare, Killarney and Cork, is one of the finest inland courses in southwestern Ireland. The course is not overly tough but is kept in wonderful condition and it offers a nice change from the links game. There are now 3 superb nine-hole configurations at Fota - Deerpark, Belvelly and Barryscourt, the newest addition. Offering quite a different test to the original 18 holes, Barryscourt adds and extra dimension to the Fota Island Resort. The Sheraton Fota Island Hotel & Spa is located on-site and makes this an ideal base from which to play Old Head Golf Links.
