OTHER DESTINATIONS
Dunbar Golf Tours Ltd also offer golfing vacations in England & Wales, Spain & Portugal and South Africa so whatever your requirements, just let us know where you plan to visit and let us do the rest.

ENGLAND & WALES
Royal Birkdale Golf Club, England While Ireland and Scotland are certainly the more popular destinations in terms of playing links golf, the merits of a trip to England & Wales should not be underestimated. So whether you plan to visit either country or whether you plan to combine a short stay in England or Wales with a visit to either Ireland or Scotland, we would be delighted to assist.

Golfing in England will probably see you visit either the South East & London; or the North West. A trip to South Eastern England allows you to combine the bright lights and attractions of London with golf courses like Wentworth & Sunningdale near London; and the likes of Royal Cinque Ports, Princes & Royal St. Georges in nearby Kent. More popular again for the avid golfer is a trip to North Western England, where you will find the Open Championship venues of Royal Birkdale, Royal Lytham & St Annes and Royal Liverpool, alongside the likes of Southport & Ainsdale, Hillside, Formby and West Lancashire.

Wales too has a lot to offer in terms of great golf courses. Here, you have the option of playing at Celtic Manor, which will play host to the 2010 Ryder Cup; or visiting the two great links courses of Royal St. David’s or Royal Porthcawl, host to the 1995 Walker Cup. Enquire Now

SPAIN & PORTUGAL
Los Naranjos Golf Club, Spain If there is one small hitch to golf trips in Ireland, Scotland, England or Wales… then it’s probably the relative unpredictability of the weather. The same is not the case with either Spain or Portugal, where you can be pretty much guaranteed to combine great golf and weather in the 70’s or 80’s depending on when you plan to travel.

There are many options in terms of visiting either Spain or Portugal. You could choose a trip to include both countries but by the same token, there is plenty to do in either country if you plan to visit just one. The main golfing areas would of course be the Algarve in Portugal and the Costa del Sol in Spain but golf trips to either area can be combined with a city break to perhaps Lisbon in Portugal; or Barcelona or Madrid in Spain.

Spain’s Costa del Sol is littered with exceptional golf courses, with either Marbella or Sotogrande providing the perfect base from which to play golf. Perhaps the best-known course in the area is Valderrama, which played host to the 1997 Ryder Cup but other great courses include the Marbella Club, San Roque, La Cala, Sotogrande, La Reserva de Sotogrande, Rio Real and Santana to name but a few.

Similarly, the Portuguese Algarve offers a terrific selection of golf courses within a few minutes of each other so if your plan is not to have to travel very far to play golf, then it’s certainly hard to beat the Algarve. Here the options include the likes of Vilamoura, Quinta do Lago (North & South), Vale do Lobo (Royal & Ocean), Pinheiros Altos and San Lorenzo. Enquire Now

SOUTH AFRICA
Sparrebosch Clifftop Country Club If you are looking for something completely different, then look no further than South Africa, which offers a unique blend of golf, sightseeing, wines & wildlife. And while South Africa is well endowed when it comes to great golf courses, no visit would be complete without the inclusion of the safari experience and in this respect, South Africa is simply incomparable.

South Africa is a vast country and there are many different options in terms of where to visit but regular internal flights make it easy to get around if driving sometimes long distances does not appeal. Some of the more popular regions include Cape Town and Winelands, the Garden Route, Sun City and Kruger National Park.

Any visit to South Africa should include a visit to Cape Town, from where you can visit excellent vineyards and play the likes of Westlake, Arabella, Erinvale and Royal Cape Golf Clubs. From here, you can journey along the Garden Route and enjoy some truly superb scenery whilst playing the excellent courses of Fancourt (Bramble Hill, Montagu & Outeniqua) and the spectacular Sparrebosch Clifftop Country Club.

Sun City is the Las Vegas of South Africa and with courses such as the Gary Player Country Club and the Lost City Course, it’s worth spending a few days here. And while there are many safari options around South Africa, perhaps the most famous game reserves of them all are located in Kruger National Park, where you will undoubtedly come across all of the “big five”… namely the lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo, in their natural environment.
