Hi Marc,
Sorry it’s taken me so long to respond. We are safely home and still trying to get used to the time change but all is well. We were very pleased with all the accommodations and the golf courses. And of course playing at the Old Course at St Andrews was wonderful. Marty and Jerry really enjoyed the Lahinch course even though it was very hard and the wind was blowing a lot. I only played 5 holes at Kingsbarns because of rain but Marty and Jerry played the whole course and said it was wonderful. We were not disappointed in any of the courses and the weather you can’t do anything about. Actually the only real rain was at Kingsbarns and they played through it.
My favorite place to stay was Killeen House. The accommodations were great but the people were wonderful. We felt right at home. All the rest of the places we stayed were great also it was just the people at Killeen house that made the difference. Thank you for all your work and recommendations. We had fun just driving around and seeing the sights. But of course, for Marty the golf was the best. You have a beautiful country and hopefully we can be back someday. I have already told one of our friends about you and she will probably be in contact with you in the near future.
Thanks again for everything,
Shirlee and Marty. TX, USA

Marc,
Let me start by just saying “Thanks”. Bottom line, the trip was unforgettable! We got a real taste of Scotland; the people, the history, the food, the booze, and of course, the golf. I played my best round at the Old Course, got swept away by the winds at Carnoustie and played the toughest golf course ever at The Castle. You planned our trip extraordinarily well, our navigation from your direction kept us from getting lost out on the windy roads, the hotels were terrific, with very friendly staff.
A couple notes for others that follow us. Don’t play the Castle Course on Day 1 as it is tough, tough, tough! Definitely play it, it’s spectacular, but build into it! Don’t get a caddie at Crail or Castle, not necessary. Have an adventure! Crail had its moments, but there might be a better #5 course. North Berwick is an awesome golf course, should definitely be on the list. Haggis is tasty! Try it! St Andrews pubs are great (Bunker Bar on 18, Jigger inn on 17, and Ma Belles up the street are all fabulous!)
Thanks so much for putting the trip together. Couldn’t have done it without you, and really enjoyed our conversations.
Cheers,
Mike. MN, USA

Hi Marc!
I just got back yesterday after about a 24 hour delay at the Newark airport
due to weather over here. I had an absolute blast in Ireland... it was everything I expected and more. The weather was pretty much perfect. The first 5 rounds (4 days) I had absolutely no rain at all. The only dissappointment was that both days at Old Head were pretty fogged in but I was still able to see the cliffs and got an appreciation for the lay of the land. Its a beautiful piece of property. Good call on two rounds there as opposed to anywhere else. At Lahinch the rain came for 5 minutes 3-4 seperate times but it was sunny the rest of the day. No big deal at all. I really couldnt have expected any better.
The golf was spectacular and I am now thoroughly prepared for anything that Vermont has to throw my way in terms of weather conditions! Killarney was a good tune up course for sure. Tralee, Lahinch and Old Head were my favorites. I enjoyed Waterville but the only thing about that course was that many of the green complexes looked the same. But it was a good round anyway for sure.
The people were incredibly friendly at all the places I went. I had no problems making new friends. Mike and Geraldine were fantastic at Killeen House. The accomodations there were very nice and got nicer as the trip went on to Friar's Lodge and Vaughan Lodge. Very good way to go about the trip and the lodgings...getting better as the trip goes on. I met some very nice people in Kinsale that brought me out to dinner after a few pints. Had a blast with them and we basically stayed until we shut down the place at midnight.
I drove 1300 miles in 7 days so I certainly got my share of sights in on top of the golf. I toured the Ring of Kerry, saw Muckross House, Ross Castle, Torc Falls, the Dingle Peninsula, Blarney Castle and the Blarney Stone, the Cliffs of Moher and some other sights in the small towns I drove through. I found about 4-5 castles in my travels. Got some great pics of the landscape and the courses. Spent the last night in a bar called Flanagan's in Lahinch where I again met some nice people. Overall this
trip was spectacular and everything I expected and more. The driving in Ireland was very easy and I had no problems at all. The food was great at the places I stayed. Everyone was very friendly. I want to thank you for putting this all together. It went off without a hitch!
Im telling all my friends over here that its a great place to visit! Thanks again and I'll talk to you soon!

Marc,
The itinerary was great and the accommodations were super. Just a lovely trip. The weather was not all that bad and we only lost the last 5 holes at Old Head on Sunday due to the wind (could not stand up)! It is a beautiful country and we saw plenty of it. Your arrangements were excellent based on the courses we wanted to play and I would recommend your group to anyone for future use. Great value for our dollar!
Thank you for all of your help. One thing...always recommend the traveler to invest in the Garmin...it is more than worth the weight in gold!!!

Marc - What a great week of golf and experiences! When we discussed this golf trip, we asked for links courses that combined local and "name" courses starting with Ballyliffin and ending at Lahinch. We wanted to be by the sea and have the true links experience. You provided that experience and more.
The planning and preparation was exceptional. Your attention to details in the planning stages gave all of us a sense of the experience and what the golf would be like (well at least we thought we had an idea). The process was about nine months in planning and the results met and exceeded our expectations.
Ger was truly exceptional. He was very attentive, always available, shared local stories, provided a history of the areas we traveled and was flexible when we asked about the Beach Bar from the book "A Course Called Ireland: A Long Walk in Search of a Country, a Pint, and the Next Tee" by Coyne. He found the bar and we shared a libation with two of the persons mentioned in the book. He directed us to great pubs where we could experience great food, good drink and wonderful conversations with local Irish citizens.
The golf courses were exceptionally challenging. It was a humbling experience and one we will never forget. The links courses really require a multiple array of shots and thinking. We all expected rain and wind but the weather that "you and Ger" provided was exceptional. I know that the two of you took credit for the weather. We actually believed that we brought it with us!
The accommodations were unique and very comfortable. Because of the golfing schedule we did not get to use all of the benefits and that was our choice. As in past experiences in Ireland, the Irish people that we met were very gracious, willing to share their courses and knowledge and were obviously proud of your rich golfing heritage.
We appreciated having time with you on the last night - it was a fitting end to a great week of golf and new Irish experiences. Marc, we all appreciated your professional manner and the attention to every detail. It was a great week that has created memories for a lifetime!

Hello Marc,
I can honestly say that the St. Andrews experience was as enjoyable on every level that one could imagine. The lovely "Auld Grey Town" was magical. Five Pilmour Place was a lovely well kept venue, perfectly located and Jackie's breakfasts were awesome.
As for the golf courses, Crail was beautiful, quirky, and full of character. Carnoustie reared its ugly head and punished us all! I've never been in the face of so many bunkers in my life! The New was surprisingly enjoyable and challenging, In the US we don't know much about it but I loved it. The Old was special as you can imagine for a first timer but I didn't have my best swing that day (anticipation?) but Artie shot 79 and parred the Road Hole! The guys thought that the Castle Course had potential but they had trouble with the rolling greens. Of course I had 5 birdies that day and won all the money so I loved it! The vistas were spectacular as they were at Kingsbarns which everyone loved.
As for Dunbar Golf Tours, I would (and will) reccommend your service to any and all who will listen (I'm already talking to people who might be interested). I don't know how you could have served us better, and you have our thanks for a job well done.
Thanks again for a great trip!

Aloha Marc,
I just wanted to thank you again for a very memorable day at St Andrews. You are so professional and caring that it was a pleasure dealing with you. The only regret I have is not having opened your letter and envelope before we shopped at the Castle Course and Old Course. We spent a lot and could have had a free momento but that's ok!
You have made our dream of a lifetime come true and we were the envy of all the golfers aboard the ship. They only wished they thought of it too. I finally got the pictures downloaded on the computer so I wanted to send you along a photo.
Mahalo Nui Loa and if you ever make it to Hawaii please call!
